Hauls

August 2016 Book Haul

Posted on Updated on

I’m back with what will probably be my last book haul for a while. I’ve been getting quite a few books lately, and now that I’m back at college, I’m going to take a step back from purchasing books when I have so much to read for my courses. (But I bet we all say that, so who knows.)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling (The Illustrated Edition)

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone illustrated edition

I have been itching to get this one for a while now. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and I cannot wait to reread the series in these editions. Read the rest of this entry »

July 2016 Book Haul

Posted on Updated on

I didn’t get too carried away this month, but I’m very excited about my selection. Now, this may be my last book haul for a while because I have a huge stack of books to get through, and to be honest, I’m starting to get intimidated by my looming TBR (to-be-read) pile.

Here we go!

Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

Unhooked

This one is another Peter Pan retelling, so I obviously had to get my hands on it. It follows a girl named Gwen, who has been told all her life by her crazy mother about a magical place, but perhaps, her mother isn’t so crazy after all. When Gwen and her friend are kidnapped away to Neverland, she tries to hang on to her memories, but she has to choose who to trust. The pirate or the fairytale hero? Read the rest of this entry »

June 2016 Book Haul

More accurately, this is a cumulative haul for the past several months. I am very excited about these books. So much so that I’m having a hard time deciding what to read next, but that seems to always be an issue with book lovers.

Here we go!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Me Before You

Right now, this book is extraordinarily popular. It was released as a movie in early June, and if I want to see it in theaters, I need to finish this book soon. I’m actually currently reading this one. For the most part, I went into this one blind. I don’t know a whole lot about it except it is about a woman caring for a disabled man, and then, romance happens? I’m not sure; we’ll see. Read the rest of this entry »

August 2015 Unhaul

Posted on Updated on

This is my very first unhaul on this blog. An unhaul consists of books that I’m getting rid of; although, in this case, all of the books listed below are no longer in my possession. A few days ago, I went to my local, independent bookstore that buys used books for store credit, and they bought these books from me. Just fair notice: there might be a part two to this eventually, for I still have books that I’d like to get rid of.

First, I’d like to say that I’m not trying to be intentionally rude about any books that you may or may not like. This is just my personal opinion.

A Wicked Thing by Rhiannon Thomas

A Wicked Thing

This book came out in February of this year, and I read it in April. It’s a Sleeping Beauty retelling, and it fell incredibly flat for me. Perhaps, it is because I had such high expectations, but I was disappointed in almost every single facet of this novel. I didn’t care for the characters because there was little to no development, and I disliked the turn of the plot near the end of the novel. In short, I have no desire to continue reading this series, so I decided to get the book off my shelves.

Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi

Ship Breaker

I can’t say anything really negative about this book because I never finished it. I had tried numerous times to finish the book, and eventually, I lost interest. Read the rest of this entry »
